Danny Boyle Wanted as Bond 23 Director

Director Danny Boyle

Director Danny Boyle, who has just come out of the Oscars with multiple awards for Slumdog Millionaire, has reportedly been offered a job for Bond 23 by Producer Barbara Broccoli. Apparently everyone on the EON team thinks Danny would make a great addition to the James Bond family.

Danny has reportedly turned down the offer, saying that while he is, and always has been, a large fan of the series, he isn't interested in directing the next film. It's a pity, I would have been interested to see how it turned out. But it may not be over yet. Many people have stalled in the past, later changing their mind for a bigger paycheck.

Pierce Brosnan Builds Gadget Laden Home

Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan has come across his fair share of gadgets throughout his time playing James Bond, and he's taken his love of technology and built a new house. Brosnan, now 55, has decided to settle down on the Billionaire Row in Malibu, California, and build his dream house, which will cost over $13 million.

But that's not the whole story. He'll be outfitting the mansion with so much gadgetry, that even Q would be proud. Along with an Olympic sized swimming pool, Pierce will have the latest high definition home theatre that may even rival the IMAX. He will also fit a security system with pressure sensored floors, which he'll be able to control from miles away in his car.

The Shepperton Story Released Today

The Shepperton Story

The Shepperton Story is written by Gareth Owen, who has co-written many biographies on Roger Moore, and details the history and events at Shepperton studios, one of England's best film studios. It was released worldwide today in paperback, published by The History Press.

Although Shepperton has no direct relation to James Bond, it's crews and cast certainly do. Director John Glen started his career there in the editing rooms, and did some second unit directing there. Director Guy Hamilton also worked at Shepperton on The African Queen, The Third Man and An Inspector Calls there, to name a few.

U.S Navy Giving Away James Bond Stealth Ship

James Bond Stealth Ship

The Sea Shadow stealth ship, once a top secret pride and joy of the Navy, that cost over $160 million to develop, is now being given away for free to any interested parties. Few naval museums have expressed interest though, as the ship also comes with a mandatory submersible dry dock the size of a football pitch.

The Sea Shadow was the basis for the stealth ship set used in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies with Pierce Brosnan, Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Pryce. Production Designer Allan Cameron would have had a field day if they'd offered this back in 1997, although it might have actually been cheaper to build the set than to dispose of the dry dock that comes along with the package.

Sean Connery's Aston Martin

A 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is going up for auction online on March 12, and will run for 8 days. The car is identical to the model James Bond originally drove in Goldfinger, as well as the later appearances in Thunderball, Goldeneye, Tommorow Never Dies and Casino Royale.

The DB5 was fully restored by Post Vintage Engineers Ltd in 2007, costing £105,000, and has a guide price at auction of £150,000 to £200,000, a value it will likely exceed. It is the same metallic silver grey that Bond had, and is one of only 1021 ever produced, originally costing just over £4000 at the end of 1963.
