Last weekend Daniel Craig, who has so far played James Bond in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, attended the oscars with his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell, and also presented Best Makeup, Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction along side Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.

Smith & Wesson Recalls Walther PPKs

James Bond's Walther PPK

In a rather embarrassing turn of events, Smith & Wesson has sent out recall notices for Walther PPK's released between 2002 and 2009, due to a faulty hammer block that could enable the pistol to shoot without the trigger being pulled.

The Walther PPK was Bond's weapon of choice in almost every 007 film, and was also present in many of the novels from several different authors, including Ian Fleming, Raymond Benson, and Kingsley Amis, among others.

The Girl Machine James Bond Comic Collection

The Girl Machine Comic

The cover art and release date have been set for the latest collection of James Bond comics, The Girl Machine, not seen since there original syndication in The Daily Express between June 19th and December 3rd of 1973. The collection includes the three stories The Girl Machine, The Nevsky Nude and Beware of Butterflies.

The stories for the comics were written by Jim Lawrence, who has been on the team for over 30 years. He started doing them in 1966 when he replaced several other authors, working from Ian Fleming originals. If you were to count all the separate stories he has written, you'd find that it is more than any other James Bond author in any field.

Roger Moore Pays Tribute to Pinewood

Earlier this month, Sir Roger Moore published an article in The Times, discussing his history and experiences at Pinewood Studios, the home of the James Bond productions since their beginnings in the early 1960's.

Roger talks about his first visit in the winter of 1947, including a bit of history about the studio. He then goes on to tell several interesting tales of his time there shooting among other things, The Persuaders, and of course, James Bond.

At 81, Roger is now the studios second oldest resident, behind 94 year old Peter Rogers, producer of the Carry On films. Roger has been at Pinewood through his 7 Bond movies, and two separate explosions that destroyed the original 007 Stage.

Goldfinger to Return to the Silver Screen

Those living in or travelling to Georgia, USA this March will be able to relive several cinema classics on the big screen, including Goldfinger from 1964, and Hitchcock's Rear Window from 1954.

The fifth annual Robert Osborne Film Festival will be held at The Classic Center in downtown Athens, Georgia, USA, on March 19th-22nd. The theatre holds 2000 people and will use archived original prints on loan from several major studios. Admission will be $60 for the entire festival, or $10 for a single viewing, with the exception of Rear Window which will be free entry.

Sean Connery Autobiography in Paperback

Sean Connery: Being a Scot

Sean Connery's long awaited autobiography was released back in August of last year (2008), to great reviews all around. But for those of us that despise dust jackets and hardcover books, it's real release is just around the corner. Sean Connery: Being a Scot will be released worldwide on August 6th, 2008, and is actually the first release in some countries, such as Canada, where last years hardcover wasn't issued.

Although good news for Connery and Bond fans alike, the book is actually more of a study of Scottish culture, than an autobiography or an account of his acting career. Nevertheless it should make a great read.
