Two Empire Awards for Quantum of Solace

Quantum Of Solace

Quantum of Solace has won in two categories of the Empire Awards. It won for Best Thriller and Best Newcomer for actress Gemma Arterton who played MI6 agent Strawberry Fields.

Both leading Bond girls were interviewed after the event, and can be watched online for actress Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton. The complete list of awards and winners follows.

James Bond Museum to Open in Keswick UK

Another James Bond museum will be added to the map on Sunday, April 5th, which marks the 100th anniversary of Producer Cubby Brocolli's birth.

Film buff Peter Nelson has assembled more than 25 vehicles in the former Caterite building on the Southey Hill trading estate. They include submarines, cars, motorbikes and speedboats that appeared in films including Diamonds Are Forever and Die Another Day.

Michael Wilson Dicusses the Bond Production

Cinema Retro has a great article featuring bits of an interview with James Bond Producer Michael Wilson. It appears that there is no news on Bond 23, and it is not yet in production. Wilson has previously stated that Quantum of Solace had really tired him out.

Here's a short excerpt from their long article.

Wilson acknowledged that the production of each film is a frantic period and that Eon delivers the finished movie to the studio with relatively little wiggle room to make changes. He said this actually works in Eon's favor because it precludes studio brass from ordering wide-ranging alterations to the films, as there simply isn't enough time to enact them.

HMV Poll declares Jaws the best James Bond Character

In a recent HMV Poll for the best James Bond Character, nearly 30% of the 4,900 respondents went for Jaws (nicknamed due to his strong, stainless steel teeth that could bite through virtually anything, and which he would use to lethal effect on his opponents by biting through their jugular.

"We all have our favourite Bond characters, but you can see why so many of us go for Jaws," said HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo.

Timothy Dalton Turns 63

Timothy Dalton

Happy birthday Tim! That's right, Timothy Dalton has turned 63 today. He last played James Bond 20 years ago in License to Kill, which followed his first adventure, The Living Daylights.

Tim is a fine actor, and brought a bit of the Bond from the novels into his character. He was often seen on set reading through the novels, and he referenced them a lot in discussions with the producers and director.

Jennifer Aniston Rumored to be in Line for the Next Bond girl

A few weeks ago, news spread around that Jennifer Aniston, best known for playing Rachel in the US sitcom Friends, had a large desire to play a Bond girl in the next 007 adventure.

Rumor has it that she is now likely to be interviewed for the role, by producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Please note that this is only a rumor, and that EON has not yet confirmed these comments.
